PENGUINBIO GmbH
PENGUINBIO GmbH, found in 2024 by Dr. Peter Rappl and Desiree Schröder, is developing ZONUINBIO, the first molecular diagnostic test compatible with EU regulation (IVDR) directly measuring the marker Zonulin, a key regulator of gut barrier integrity. ZONUINBIO is crucial for both, precision medicine on Earth and health in space for detection. Its relevance is spanning from prevention of acute reactions, but also diseases associated with gut inflammation, including inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease. Under space conditions (e.g. micro-gravity, radiation, stress), astronauts suffer from gut barrier disorders that trigger inflammation and immunodeficiency. ZONUINBIO offers a much-needed precise diagnostic option in Orbit, but also pre and post missions. Space medicine serves also as a catalyst for innovations in terrestrial diagnostics.
